The A-1 Pictures studio decided to produce more than just one anime series this season, and on April 4, 2015 released a new school comedy about a teacher-hikikomori. Ultimate Otaku Teacher was immediately picked up by Chukyo TV and Nippon Television Network in Japan, FUNimation Entertainment in the United States and online television channel Viewster in Europe. Not the biggest selection of channels, but the anime is also just average.

Junichiro Kogami, who at the age of 17 was already published in renowned scientific journals, became interested in anime and just in one year has virtually become a hikikomori. He is no longer interested in writing articles, or making scientific discoveries, or looking for recognition of the international community – all he wants is to watch anime, collect figurines and play computer games. However, his sister could not tolerate that and made him become a school teacher.

You have already probably guessed – this is a comedy anime series about a transformation of a loser into a teacher of the year. Although, let’s be honest, Junichiro is a rather sharp guy, not too shy for words, doesn’t mind socializing and, in general, does not exhibit typical signs of an introvert. He is just a lazy guy who has become too obsessed with anime.

Well, accepting his sister’s challenge, he quickly discovers that his disciples remind him of his favorite anime characters and that pedagogy is not as terrible as he had imagined. Ultimate Otaku Teacher is your typical situational comedy, the main character is a lazy genius and his classroom features a full set of cliché anime characters. The storyline will move forward based on humor, because the graphics in the anime is rather weak. So, we have a typical school comedy and the fate of a potential second season is based on how funny and exciting jokes will be to viewers. In this case, we can expect to see season 2 of Ultimate Otaku Teacher in summer of 2016.
